What can you expect when you attend Playtest Fest?
It's a free event for the public, where they can test board and card games created by local game designers.
About 15 - 20 designers from around Michigan (and maybe some from outside the state) gather to test their games at Playtest Fest. We invite the public to play the games and provide feedback.
Our next Playtest Fest will be September 27, from noon to 6:00 PM at Games 4 Life in Lake Orion, MI.

In return for your time and feedback, we offer:

Pizza, snacks, and pop will be available for free for designers and playtesters during the event.

When playtesters finish a game, they can submit their feedback in an online form. That gets them an entry in our prize drawings.
Several game publishers provided excellent prize support for this event, including Allplay, Slugfest Games, Rio Grande Games, R&R Games, and Motor City Gameworks. Designers will also provide games to give away, including some that they created.
Drawings will take place throughout the event, with some gift certificates and other big giveaways at the end.

Well, we just mentioned the free food and prizes, but here are some other reasons:
If you love games and want to get a better idea of how they're made, this is an up-close look at the process.
Some designers at the event have many games already published. Testing their games gives you a chance to see upcoming releases and meet the people who make them. Matt Riddle, Ken Franklin, and Ian Zang will be there, and they have several published and highly aclaimed games to their credit.
This is a way to give back to a hobby you love, as you help aspiring designers achieve their dreams. We can't make great games without helpful playtesters. In many ways, this event is to express our appreciate to you, for your time and feedback!

No! You can come anytime and leave when you want. If you win a prize drawing, you will have to be present during the drawing to claim the prize. Those will take place throughout the event.
What kinds of games will be there?

Many different types of board and card games will be there. You can see a list of prototoypes the designers plan to bring on this page.
Can kids attend?
Can kids attend?
This is not specifically a family event, but there is no reason children can't attend. Just look over the list of games and make sure you see things you think they'll be interested in. Most attendees will be adults and it will be your typical game store environment. Children under 13 need a parent or other adult family member with them at all times.
